Headmovies

Swaggerbrand is a wonderful site that provides a vital service. Moreso than an average marketing firm or public relations company, this company provides a very basic, but essential service. They take your headmovies and make them palatable for the public. I have been thinking about the term "headmovies" since I saw the uproariously funny movie Tropic Thunder. Uttered by the meta-fictional character, Simple Jack, initially, the term itself made me laugh. However, upon further reflection, I realized that the term headmovies is a simple and apt description for the things we want out of life.
Dreams are ephemeral wisps, grasping at the clouds, stylized, fantastical thoughts. When I lay in bed and think about my life, goals, and aspirations, I am acting in my personal headmovies. While headmovies can have fantasy elements, and dreams can be grounded in reality, you can control your headmovies. Imagine that they are scripts that have not been greenlit. Every tangible thing you can observe in this world began as somebody's headmovie. Every painting, song, movie, invention, story, or poem was complete long before we saw the finished product.
I draw inspiration from this because at some point most of us have taken stock of our progress and felt that we have fallen short. However, we still have a plan for our lives. It all begins with the script. Once we can envision how we want our lives to progress, we can empower ourselves. It is never enough to merely see these movies in our head, but it is essential that we begin to chart a path towards our growth and success. Swaggerbrand provides a medium to do this, but you must do the heavy lifting first. That is the only way to insure that your head movie has a happy ending.
SwaggerBrand at ASCAP EXPO 2009!
So, SwaggerBrand was definitely in the buildin' at ASCAP Expo 2009. Made some great connections, and got a bunch of inspiration for more music creation of course. We even got some people interested in some web design work from us, which is always good right? ;-)
It's great to see people interested in taking there music career tot he next level, especially on the web, since it's a universal and necessary means of communication these days (how many times have you heard that?).
We met up with some great people and attended some pretty informative panel discussions that presented some great marketing ideas for musicians.
These people were definitely up to speed on the latest strategies for marketing yourself online as a musician - from Twitter, to Nimbit, and especially having your own website, which is definitely most important in taking control of the high possibility of your success online as an artist.
They all seemed to know what they were talking about and were definitely in sync with the methods used at SwaggerBrand, so it was good to have all our hard work and ideas confirmed in addition to learning new things from the big well known marketing heads.
We were also invited to an unofficial end of conference jam session, which was probably my favorite part of the conference (Good lookin' out Alex and Damon!). It started out with 8 of us, and then ended up with about 40-50 people in room 818 of the Rennaisance, just creating good music nonstop until we were kicked out...perfect.
So be on the lookout for ASCAP818.com, a site SwaggerBrand will be launching to keep those great people that attended this session in contact and also to support an official end of conference jam session so that history can be created every year to come at ASCAP Expo.
The experience was extremely exciting and motivational, so in support of the perpetuation of great music and creativity, SwaggerBrand is offering all ASCAP members a 10% discount on web design services when they mention that they're an ASCAP member and provide us with their music website or myspace page when requesting a quote from us. So with that being said, don't stop the music, and I hope to see you all again in 818 next year!
